Visitors to Zion National Park hike into a slot canyon, set up ropes, and rappel and climb their way through tight, narrow, curving rock walls. The video montage shows many different groups of people.

Zion Guru canyoneering guides are technical experts and enthusiastic teachers,with exceptional facilitation and group management skills. Our canyon guides take a wholistic approach to every guided canyoneering trip, integrating the geological wonder as a journey through body, mind, and nature. We offer four categories of slot canyon tours, which we call Canyon Quests:

  • Adventure = Canyoneering with ropes and rappels - perfect for beginners

  • Elevated = Canyoneering with ropes, high adventure - best for athletic or experienced groups. Call our shop to ask how!

  • Courses = Canyoneering with rope and rappel skill development - designed for those who intend to go canyoneering on their own post-course

  • Discovery = Canyoneering in remote, exclusive, high-adventure locations - the clear choice for experienced adventures who want to take on canyoneering challenges over multiple days

All our slot canyon trips and courses explore beautiful, narrow canyons near Zion National Park in Southwest Utah, hand-selected for their intimacy and adventurous nature.

Adventure Canyon Quest

This is our most popular guided canyoneering trip, featuringeautiful hikes, rslot canyon rappels ranging from 20 to 175’ (higher if appropriate for the group), high technical safety standards, and gentle, empowering group facilitation skills from our canyoneering instructors. We emphasize Leave No Trace, community building within each group, and interactive problem-solving of natural canyon obstacles.

Start times  vary; your reservation guru will advise seasonally. Recommended start times 7am through 10am, or 1pm through 4pm. The duration of this guided canyon tour is 3.5 - 4 hours.

    Cancellation Policy

Adventure Canyon Quest FACTS:

  1. Great for beginners, kids and families.

  2. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

  3. Both half and full-day Quests include multiple rappels up to 60’, some as high as 175' on full-day trips (higher rappel possible on Elevated trips).

  4. Short to long hikes from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

  5. Canyoneering descents may include down-climbing and swimming. If you prefer avoid swimming, please let us know.

  6. Full-day canyoneering trips usually include 2x to 3x the amount of canyon travel as half-day trips.

  7. All canyoneering trips are private (you and your group only).

  8. Zion National Park does not permit guiding allowed within the Zion Wilderness. No commercial canyoneering guide service is allowed in popular Zion canyons, such as The Subway or Pine Creek Canyon. All Zion Guru trip providers are licensed and permitted for access on public and private lands outside the boundaries of Zion National Park.

  9. We have access to over 25 different Zion area slot canyons. We choose and change our canyon locations to best serve you and your group.

  10. We can coordinate locations with your travel plans. If you are headed toward Vegas, Bryce, or the Grand Canyon on our trip day, we can choose a canyon that gets you closer to your destination by the end of day.

All canyon tours start and end from Zion Guru in Springdale, UT, unless otherwise arranged.


East side half day canyon quest info

This info is for guests with accommodations on Zion’s east side who do not wish to travel to Springdale for their half-day Canyon Quest tour. Please note there are few restaurant and shopping opportunities on the remote East Side. Starting and ending your tour from Zion Guru may be appropriate for those seeking these opportunities.

There is an added charge of $148 for every 6 guests for Half Day trips where we meet you on the East Side of Zion NP . This additional charge compensates for the additional mileage and guide time.
