#1 eBiking Around Zion

Good for all ages (use double rider or child carriers for kids too young to ride their own)

eBiking in Zion is a ton of fun with breathtaking scenery throughout. eBikes allow you to access some of the best hikes in the park without waiting in shuttle lines. Consider taking a guided eBike tour to see all the hidden spots and best views in the park!

#2 Zion Narrows River Hike

Good for ages 4+ (not stroller friendly, not baby friendly)

The Zion Narrows River Hike is considered one of the best hikes on Earth. It is a river wading hike which can range from knee high to waist high depending on the time of year. We recommend renting gear to keep your family comfortable… at least river shoes in the warmer months and full waterproof bibs in the colder months.

#3 Canyoneering

Good for ages 4+ (not stroller friendly, not baby friendly)

Canyoneering is one of the most popular activities at Zion National Park, best for adventurous families visiting during nicer weather (April-Oct). Canyoneering is a unique activity that requires expert guides, even if you have experience with rock climbing or outdoor adventure. With proper guides, children as young as age 4 can enjoy this activity with their family.

#4 Angel’s Landing or Scout’s Lookout

Good for ages 6+ (not stroller friendly, not baby friendly)

This is one of the most popular hikes in Zion because of the magnificent viewpoint. It is a 2-4 hr hike and the final half mile is quite arduous where kids under 10 may struggle, as will some adults. However, you can stop at the 2 mile point (Scout’s Lookout) and still receive some incredible canyon views!

FULL-DAY ITINERARY SUGGESTIONS

Here are some full-day itinerary suggestions for savvy travelers that like to plan ahead!

Day #1 - Family eBiking and Zion Narrows Day

Good for ages 4+

Theme: Classic Zion Narrows Adventure
Total Duration: ~8 hours

Meet at Zion Guru (30 min)
Start your day by getting fitted for Narrows Gear and e-bikes. Review gear, trail conditions, and safety tips. Pro tip: Do this and lunch prep all the night before for a smooth day!

E-bike to Temple of Sinawava (1 hr)
Enjoy an 8-mile scenic ride up Zion Canyon on the paved road—great views and wildlife sightings along the way. This is so much better than waiting in crowded shuttle lines. Zion Guru e-bikes have places to carry your gear and walking pole.

Hike The Narrows (4-6 hrs)
Begin your river hike from the Temple of Sinawava. Families typically hike 2–3 miles upriver, stopping to explore narrow walls and enjoy a snack or picnic lunch along the way.

E-bike return to Springdale (1 hr)
The mostly downhill ride back is scenic and relaxing. You can extend the fun by stopping off at scenic viewpoints along the way.

Return gear to Zion Guru (30 min)
Drop off e-bikes and gear, then relax after a full day of exploration.

Day #2 - Guided Family Canyoneering Trip

Good for ages 4+

Theme: Exploration, Teamwork, Confidence-Building
Total Duration: ~8 hours

Meet at Zion Guru (30 min)
Gear up and review safety basics with your guide. Bring your favorite snacks and/or lunch with you to stay fueled during this adventure!

Drive to canyon site (45 min)
Travel to your adventure location.

Guided canyoneering (2.5 - 5.5 hrs) *Depends on half-day or full-day trip
Enjoy rappelling, short scrambles, and exploring beautiful slot canyon terrain. Guides tailor the pace to family comfort levels.

Return to Springdale (45 min)
Relax and hydrate on the way back.

If you’re ready for another adventure Choose another half-day activity such as Horseback Riding, eBiking, or hiking the Emerald Pools, Canyon overlook, Watchman or Pa’rus Trail.

Free time (1 hr)
Unwind by the Virgin River or stroll Springdale shops before ending your day.

Day #3 - Zion Hike & Coral Pink Sand Dunes

Morning hike in Zion (2.5 hrs)
Choose from Emerald Pools + Kayenta Trail or Canyon Overlook. Both offer stunning family-friendly hikes with photo opportunities.

Lunch in Springdale (45 min)
Grab a quick bite or pack lunch to enjoy en route.

Drive to Coral Pink Sand Dunes (45 min)
A scenic drive through Mt. Carmel Junction and the east park entrance.

Sandboarding & dune play (3 hrs)
Spend the afternoon riding the dunes, building sandcastles, and taking in panoramic desert views. Boards can be rented from Zion Guru or at the park. Pro Tip: If visiting during the warmer months, flip the order of this day and enjoy Coral Pink Sand Dunes in the morning and shaded Zion hikes in the late evening or trading the sandboarding visit for a paddle board visit at nearby state park lakes!

Drive back to Springdale (45 min)
Enjoy the views as you return through the red desert landscape.

Optional treat stop (30 min)
Cool off with ice cream or smoothies in town to end the day.

Day #4 - Zion Hike & Horseback Riding

Morning hike in Zion (3 hrs)
Family favorites include the Watchman Trail, Emerald Pools, Canyon Overlook or for a challenge hike up to Scout’s Lookout. All options will provide excellent scenery and exploration.

Drive to horseback stables (30 min)
Head to Canyon Trail Rides near Zion Lodge.

Horseback riding adventure (2 hrs)
